After 10 years of hibernation, the Southern Outpost label resurfaces in 2018 to release the Heliopause ep from SO founder, Herr Wächer (The Sentinel, Agent Patrick). Enlisting the talents of none other than Santiago Salazar to remix the lead track, Heliopause.

While Southern Outpost has been predominately known for releasing underground electro, Herr Wächer pushes this ep out of that comfort zone into deep space techno territory.

The lead track Heliopause was heavily influenced by the original NASA Voyager missions, with spacecraft 1 & 2 aiming to discover the heliopause boundary (the outer limits of the Sun’s magnetic fields. The evolving synth lead lines could be mistaken as the solar wind rushing past the Voyager, the bassline and shuffled hi-hats, the nuclear fuel driving both the spacecraft and the track onwards.

On remix duties for Heliopause is Santiago Salazar (UR, Planet E, ICAN) who really needs no introduction. Santiago delivers a driving techno rework of the lead track, taking key elements of the original and then layering on his own unique style. This remix will sure to be popular on dance floors worldwide.

Lastly, Spatial brings the intensity down a notch, bringing in subtle synth pads and a evolving 303 bassline, perfect for the very early morning dj sets. The track takes inspiration from the early musical works of both Detroit and Berlin techno releases which has been a big influence on Herr Wächer since the early 90s.
